We are delighted to share the outstanding success of our recent “Pencil for Plastic” event held at Lambo Basic Primary School in The Gambia. This initiative has truly showcased the power of community collaboration and the profound impact of sustainable practices.

Community Clean-Up Effort:
The event saw a remarkable turnout, with community members of all ages coming together to tackle plastic waste. Together, we managed to collect and recycle a significant amount of plastic, transforming our environment into a cleaner and more pleasant place to live. Our initiative aimed to support education through sustainability. Students eagerly exchanged plastic waste for essential school supplies, including pencils, notebooks, and other learning materials. Establishing a Micro Recycling Center (MRC):
Following the success of this event, we are excited to announce our plans to establish a Micro Recycling Center (MRC) in Tamba or its neighbourhood This center will serve as a permanent facility for ongoing recycling efforts, ensuring that the momentum gained from the “Pencil for Plastic” event continues. The MRC will be a cornerstone for sustainable waste management in the community, providing a convenient location for residents to recycle their waste and learn more about environmental stewardship. 🌍✨
Key Objectives of the MRC:
– Sustained Recycling Efforts: The MRC will facilitate regular recycling activities, making it easier for community members to dispose of their recyclable materials responsibly.
– Educational Programs We plan to offer workshops and training sessions at the MRC to educate the community about the importance of recycling and effective waste management strategies.
– Economic Benefits: The MRC will create job opportunities within the community, contributing to local economic growth and stability.
