What is Waste Free in '23?

WasteFree23.org is an all-volunteer international NGO that researches, promotes and trains people on safe, sustainable, and profitable waste management processes. Our mission is to empowerΒ  2 billion people to eliminate unmanaged household and agricultural waste.
With training, they are empowered to manage their community’s waste, creating jobs and retaining all the benefits of recycling within their community.

Β  Β  Β  WasteFree23 empowers individuals, community-based organizations (CBOs), and communities to become waste-free through education, training, and support for recycling and upcycling. Founded in 2022 by concerned community members and waste pickers in Nairobi, Kenya, WasteFree23 is dedicated to developing practical waste management solutions that can be implemented by the world’s poorest communities, aiming to reduce pollution and create sustainable livelihoods.

Holistic municipal waste management greatly reduces the cost and improves the efficiency of eliminating the burning, trucking, and dumping of waste. Simultaneously, a holistic solution is more readily adopted by communities and has far more benefits for communities than typical material-specific management solutions.
